Modern Colorado Home of Historic Telluride

Tommy Hein Architects designed this modern Colorado home in the old train depot neighborhood of Telluride — encompassing both contemporary concepts and the spirit of the breathtakingly charming ski town. Modern Colorado Home of Historic Telluride

The house was built using steel plates and vintage barn wood, with stone steps for the entrance. The living space is vaulted and the south facade of the home is open to allow for abundant natural light, creating not only an urban vibe, but also the feeling that the structure is floating within the space. The main staircase is designed to be widest at the bottom and narrowest at the top leading to an industrial master bedroom, simulating the historic feel of the old mills.

The outdoor space has a direct view to the surrounding peaks, encouraging guests to spend time outside, and even the bathroom takes advantage of the mountain views. You can see the tallest peak of the mountain from the shower stall. The entrance is designed with skiers in mind, too. The flooring that has excellent traction for ski boots. However the house is so immaculate that most visitors take their boots off before entering.
